Jem Finer, Lavinia Greenlaw, Jay Griffiths and Ben Rivers will unveil the first manifestations of their Stay Where You Are projects at PLACE: Occupation at Snape Maltings on 1st and 2nd of February 2014. This annual cross-arts exploration of the culture and meanings of landscape returns for its fourth edition with a wide-ranging investigation into what it means to hold your ground and occupy a place. The word ‘occupation’ perhaps most readily brings to mind recent global encampments, but forms of committed engagement – cultural, social and political – have taken many different expressions. The theme takes on a special resonance, of course, with the centenary of the First World War.
