Ben Rivers’ ‘Things’ was announced as winner of the prestigious Tiger Awards Competition for Short Film.

SWYA_PLACE_14_6Stay Where You Are Launches at Place: 1 / 2 February 2014 (Winter Staging)
Jem Finer, Lavinia Greenlaw, Jay Griffiths and Ben Rivers unveiled the first manifestations of their Stay Where You Are projects at PLACE at Snape Maltings on the weekend of 1 / 2 February 2014. Based around the theme of ‘Occupation’, this annual cross-arts exploration of the culture and meanings of landscape returned for its fourth edition with a wide-ranging investigation into what it means to hold your ground and occupy a place. Presented at intervals throughout the weekend, the four pieces were summed up in a brief discussion between the artists and curator, Steven Bode.

The Spring Edition of ‘Stay Where You Are’ took place at Hackney Picturehouse cinema on Wednesday 7 May. Alongside screenings and readings of the latest instalments of their works, the four artists and writers were in conversation with curator, Gareth Evans.

The Summer Edition of ‘Stay Where You Are’ was part of Aldeburgh Festival, and took place at Aldeburgh Cinema on 20th June. Ben Rivers and Jem Finer’s new film works were screened, with a reading from Lavinia Greenlaw and a recording from Jay Griffiths. This was followed by a discussion with the artists, writers and curators Steven Bode & Gareth Evans.

JM SWYA CONVEYOR 2 Artist Talk & Screening at Hackney Picturehouse (Autumn Staging) Wednesday 19 November, 6.45pm. 
Jem Finer, Lavinia Greenlaw, Jay Griffiths and Ben Rivers gathered at Hackney Picturehouse for a special event marking the completion of the year-long project Stay Where You Are. Over the course of twelve months, and keeping in step with the changing seasons, each writer and artist developed a major new body of work, which was presented at the event. This was followed by a Q&A session with the artists and curators.
